Orange Squad-History

Orange Squad is a 3-men combo from Grevenmacher, East-coast Luxembourg, raised out of the ashes of the alternative act Tommy´s Toxic Tongue-Twister. The band was founded in april 99 by Steve Niesen (bass/vocs), Claude Schiltz (guitars) and Pierre Probst (drums), and played their debut-gig at the "Rock a Maacher" Festival in August 2000 after 2 years of stage-absence.

Orange Squad creates a modern Rock ´n´Roll sound, mainly influenced by bands like Deftones, Kyuss, Queens of the stone age, Tool and Incubus, mixed with the individual tastes and musical backgrounds of the members. This makes Orange Squad´s sound different from that of "common" Rockbands. The lyrics are mainly based on personal thoughts and underline the different moods of the songs.

The band was invited for interviews at RTL, radio ArA and Soziokulturellen Radio and played a lot of clubgigs in and around Luxembourg. In February 2001 Orange Squad took part at the Emergenza Newcomer Contest at the KuFa in Esch/Alzette and reached the semi-finals. A support-gig for Queens of the Stone Age followed, which was a big succes for the band. Afterwards OS participated at the most important festivals in Luxembourg (Rock um Knuedler featuring Ash from Ireland, Rock a Maacher, Eastcoastfestival / Mertert featuring Audiosmog from Germany, Sonic Faces-Festival at KuFa - Esch/Alzette.

In September 2001 the band started the recording sessions for their forthcoming 8-track album "Cruisin´" which has been released on the 3rd of August at Rock a Maacher-Festival 2002. It contains a finest blend of modern rock´n´roll-sounds made in Eastcoast Luxembourg, so watch out for it!!!
